If we can believe the current research, traditional interviews will be a thing of the past. Rather than a traditional résumé and formal interview, tomorrow’s employers will conduct the first interview via a video link. This practice is already part of many graduate programmes, but the trend could expand to most roles. The second interview would be a live trial with candidates joining the workplace for 1-2 weeks to give hiring managers the opportunity to view them in action. Is this a good approach? Yes & No. On the plus side, both parties could assess suitability but how many candidates would be prepared to give up a permanent role for a 1-2-week trial?
Would this dramatically reduce the choice of candidates?
What do you think?
Would you embrace a video interview followed by a trial period?
We would love to hear your views.
